Do we really need to bother........well yes.....it's the law. If you supply soft furnishings - curtains, blinds, cushions etc. to a public building (anywhere where people congregate - hospitals, schools, care homes, church halls etc.) then you need a certificate to prove that your products comply with BS 5768 Type B Part 2 for flame retardancy
That's the face fabrics, linings and curtain tapes
Where do I get a FR Certificate.......Easy, from the supplier of your fabrics/linings etc. They will have had their products tested and have certificates proving the required standards have been met. So just make sure you choose FR products to show to your client in the first place.
Who Cares ?.................. Building Managers, Clients, Architects and most importantly Fire Officers. All certification needs checking before a building can be opened for public use. Just look at what's happened at the Co-op Live in Manchester.
