where to place your roman blind tape

Roman blind tape is sewn across the back of your roman blind in rows to create perfect fabric folds when the blind is lifted.
How the rows are spaced greatly influences the folds and thus the look of the finished blind
We recommend the following calculation to identify where to place your tape
- Firstly, take the finished drop of your blind and deduct 2" (6 cm) for the heading and 1" (3 cm) for the base.
e.g. a blind with 1500 cm (59") drop - 150 cm - 9 cm = 141 cm
2. Divide your calculation of 141 cm by 15 cm (answer 9.4) but to make the folds even we want the answer to be an odd number (i.e.7,9,11). You can see that the closest odd number to our calculation is 9.
3. So to make the folds even we need to go back and divide our 141 cm by 9. The answer is 15.66 cm but for simplicity sake (and to prevent eye strain on small measuring tapes) we would recommend 15.5 cm which would be the measurement for each half fold
4.Now using pins or chalk to mark the back of your blind start from the top and measure down
Heading (6 cm) + 2 half folds (2 x 15.5 cm) = 37 cm Thus 36 cm from the top of your blind is the place for the first row of tape
then next row - 2 x half folds (2 x 15.5 cm) = 31 cm
then next row - 2 x half folds (2 x 15.5 cm) = 31 cm
then next row - 2 x half folds (2 x 15.5 cm) = 31 cm
which leaves a half fold of 15.5 cm + 4.5 cm for the base
